All lanes of Interstate Highway 680 are closed in both directions in San Jose Monday evening due to a pedestrian on an overcrossing, a California Highway Patrol spokesman.
The report of the pedestrian at the Alum Rock Avenue overcrossing came in around 2 p.m., CHP Officer Ross Lee said.
Lee said the pedestrian was threatening to jump but did not know the person’s status this evening, Lee said.
A Sig-alert closing both directions of Highway 680 at Alum Rock Avenue was issued at 2:48 p.m., CHP officials said.
Southbound traffic has been diverted to McKee Road and northbound traffic has been diverted to Capitol Expressway, he said.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes, CHP officials said.
There is no estimated time of when the lanes will reopen, according to the CHP.

HWY 680 Jumper, I (along with many others) was delayed yesterday trying to make my way home from work. I couldn't have explained to you how upset I was at you! But the reason why I'm righting you is to say I'm sorry, I'm sorry for all the pain you're dealing with, I'm sorry for thinking that you were just a hindrance in my life and I'm sorry that for all the time I sat there in traffic I didn't once have compassion for you.
I don't know you or what led you to this point, but I want to let you know that I care about you! I know the struggles life has, you'er not in it alone. Hoping for the best!!!

HWY 680 Jumper, traffic Monday night commute NIGHTMARE!!!! For some people who live closer normal 10 mins commute took them an hour to get home and they were bitching and complaining, really!!!! TRY 2.5 hours OK!!!!!!!! I wanted to CHOKE someone. I was stressing out couldn't find a way home, traffic JAMMED literally every which way I go. I left my office at 5:00 pm didn't get home until 7:30 pm. Next time find some where ELSE TO JUMP lady!!!! You've casued hundred of thousands of people misery!!!!
