Police used tasers to disarm a man who was cutting and stabbing himself Saturday morning at a residence in Oakland, police said.The man died from his wounds.
Police responded to a report of an attempted suicide at 5:55 a.m. in the 5000 block of Congress Avenue. The man’s roommate told police he was cutting his own wrists and had stabbed himself multiple times, police said.
The roommate also told police the man was acting aggressively, according to police. Police said emergency medical personnel first secured the scene but when officers arrived, the man, who was holding a knife, advanced towards the officers.
Police used tasers to disarm him, police said. Emergency medical crews treated the man at the scene but he died from his wounds, police said. The Alameda County coroner’s bureau is investigating the cause of death.
