Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 500 block of 37th Street near West MacArthur Boulevard and Telegraph Avenue around 9:50 p.m., police said.
Arriving officers found the man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, according to police.
The victim, an Oakland resident, was transported to Highland Hospital in grave condition for injuries that were considered life-threatening, police said.
No suspect information was immediately available this morning.
