A young child on a bicycle was struck and injured by a vehicle in Cupertino this morning, a Santa Clara County sheriff’s spokesman said.
The collision was reported around 9 a.m. at the intersection of Clifford Drive and South Blaney Avenue, sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup said.
The child, who is under 5 years old, was struck while crossing the street in a crosswalk and was taken to a hospital, but appears to have escaped major injury, Stenderup said.
Stenderup said the child is lucky:
“It’s possibly looking like just bumps and bruises.”
The driver of the vehicle that struck the child stopped and cooperated with investigators.
Drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in the collision, which remains under investigation, Stenderup said.
