GGB sidewalk driver arrested for DUI

The California Highway Patrol arrested a San Francisco man on suspicion of driving under the influence after he drove his Ford Mustang onto the west sidewalk of the Golden Gate Bridge Monday morning.

Daniel Soto was driving south when he drove onto the wide area of the sidewalk near the North Anchorage at 5:13 a.m., CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said.

The Mustang became wedged where the sidewalk narrowed but was freed later this morning and a crane may be used to remove the crushed vehicle, Barclay said.

Soto was arrested on suspicion of DUI. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to Marin General Hospital, Barclay said.
