Police said Glenda Ann Bernardini, 47, of San Rafael is wanted on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence.
Officers responded at 2:36 a.m. to the 400 block of Mission Avenue after receiving a report of a man with a knife in his head in the middle of the street.
Police said the victim had a 12-inch knife sticking out of the top of his head and 2 inches of the knife penetrating his skull.
Investigators determined the victim and Bernardini got into an argument for an unknown reason, and at some point during the argument, Bernardini plunged the knife into the victim’s head.
Police said Bernardini then drove away in a car. Officers searched the area, but did not locate Bernardini.
Her vehicle was found Thursday in San Rafael.
The victim was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.
Police are asking anyone with information on Bernardini’s whereabouts to call the police department at (415) 485-3000.
