Video game stolen from under Christmas tree

Santa Clara police last Wednesday arrested three men and two male juveniles after a resident reported seeing a man stealing an video game console from beneath a decorated Christmas tree, police said.

At 10:08 p.m. last Wednesday, an adult male resident of a home in the 2200 block of Lenox Place reported being upstairs with his wife and daughter when he went downstairs and saw a man unhooking the game console from under the family’s lighted Christmas tree, according to police.

The victim also reported seeing a second man standing in the doorway of the home, police said. The resident then yelled at the men, who both fled after stealing some of the victim’s property, according to officers.

An officer, after hearing the reported burglary broadcast on the police radio, witnessed a vehicle leaving the area with passengers inside who matched the victim’s description of the suspects, police said.

The officer pulled over the vehicle, which contained three men and two boys, located items that matched what the victim had reported stolen from his home and confirmed later that the property belonged the resident, according to police. All of the five suspects were arrested in connection with the home burglary, officers said.
