Man wanted in attempted assault of 10yo

Officers are investigating an attempted assault that took place in Fairfield last week, police said.

The assault reportedly occurred around 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14 in front of a residence in the 2800 block of Rebecca Drive, according to Fairfield police.

A ten-year-old child was standing in front of the residence when an unknown man approached him. The child became scared and ran away, with the suspect following.

The suspect tried to grab the child’s leg as the child jumped over a fence, police said.

The child left a backpack behind before fleeing, which the suspect rummaged through prior to leaving the scene.

The suspect has been described as a black man in his 30s, 5 feet 5 inches tall with shoulder-length braided hair, and slim to average build with a beard, according to police.
