Bruce Bochy was admitted to a hospital in Arizona for a heart procedure after feeling discomfort after a physical Thursday.

His team outplayed Clint Hurdle‘s Pittsburgh Pirates in the one-game Wild Card. He out-managed Washington Nationals skipper Matt Williams in the NLDS.
Just about the only thing he couldn’t control was the voting for National League Manager of the Year.
Bochy, who captured his third championship in five years this season, finished third behind Hurdle and the award-winning Williams.
Williams led the Nationals to a National League-leading 96 wins in his first year as manager. He began his career as a third baseman for the Giants in 1987.
Williams received 18 first-place votes, six second-place votes, and one third-place vote for a total of 109 points. Hurdle received eight first-place votes, 12 second-place votes, and four third place-votes for a total of 80 points.
Bochy received three first-place votes, three second-place votes, and six third-place votes for a total of 30 points. The voting process took place before the postseason.
Bochy last won the award in 1996 with the San Diego Padres.
