Teen fatally shot in Richmond home

A teenager was fatally shot in North Richmond on Friday night, a Contra Costa County sheriff’s spokesman said.

Deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of Market Avenue at Fred Jackson Way around 9:20 p.m., sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said.

Arriving deputies found a 16-year-old boy in front of a home and he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Lee.

Investigators are looking into the homicide and working with police in Richmond where several shootings took place Friday night, Lee said.

One of the shootings occurred around 10 p.m., when Richmond police officers responded to reports of shots fired at Sixth Street and Pennsylvania Avenue where they later found a car had crashed into a parked vehicle, police said.

A man found in the driver‘s seat of the crashed car was struck by gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene, while a woman accompanying him suffered minor wounds and was transported to a hospital, according to police.

No suspects have been arrested in either incident, law enforcement officials said.
