BART officials closed the North Berkeley station at 4:26 p.m. due to a report of a person underneath a train, a spokeswoman said.
The train was traveling from Richmond to Fremont, she said.
BART service has stopped between El Cerrito del Norte and downtown Berkeley in the Fremont, Richmond, and San Francisco directions.
There is no estimated time of when service will resume, nor is there any information on the condition of the person reported under the train.
