One pedestrian killed in Milpitas collision

One person was killed and one injured in a vehicle collision involving pedestrians Friday morning, according to Milpitas police.

The collision was reported just after 7:30 a.m. at South Abel Street and Junipero Drive, police said. Two pedestrians, a 67-year-old woman and a 75-year-old man, both Milpitas residents, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The man was declared dead at the hospital, police said. The 31-year-old Milpitas resident driving the involved vehicle, a green 1997 Nissan Quest, was not injured.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation but alcohol does not appear to be a factor, police said.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information regarding it is asked to call police at (408) 56-2400. Anonymous tips can also be left by calling (408) 586-2500 or through the Milpitas Police Department web site.
