BART broke no ridership records last Friday when Giants fans attended the parade in San Francisco celebrating the team clinching the World Series from the Kansas City Royals.
Numbers though were still good enough for the third-highest ridership in BART’s history, as thousands of riders decided to take transit to the parade.
BART said it provided trips for 511,641 riders last Friday. The top spot still belongs to the 2012 Giants parade when about 568,000 riders used BART that day.
The second highest ridership day was during the 2010 Giants parade with approximately 522,000 riders hitching a ride on BART.
Muni was also a bit more crowded during last Friday’s parade, according to the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.
Ridership on the Muni Metro approximately increased by 30,000 — a 10 percent increase, said SFMTA spokesman Paul Rose.
Both BART and Muni provided extra service before and after the parade to deal with the anticipated crowds.
