At about 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, police received a report of a strong-arm robbery in the 4200 block of Ross Terrace about a block from the Fremont Hub Shopping Center.
Police said the victim was inside her residence and had left her front door ajar when a man entered her home and snatched a gold chain from her neck.
The suspect fled after the victim yelled for her husband to help her, police said.
A witness reported seeing a possible suspect enter a four-door gray-colored vehicle that fled the area heading north, according to police.
The suspect is described as a black man between 30 and 35 years old standing between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall.
He was wearing a white shirt, denim jacket, tight black jeans and a black baseball cap at the time of the robbery, police said.
