Police said a driver’s impatience at a traffic light early Friday morning in Newark led to his arrest on suspicion of DUI after he backed into a patrol car while trying to trigger the light.
Police said Manas Gowd, 26, of Fremont, was stopped at a red light at Newark Boulevard and Jarvis Avenue just before 1 a.m. Friday when he tried to back up to trigger the light.
Police said Gowd was unaware there was a patrol vehicle behind him at the red light and when he backed up, he collided with the car. There was no damage to the patrol vehicle and minor damage to the suspect’s vehicle.
