Martinez police on Wednesday rescued a missing Oregon girl and arrested a man suspected of kidnapping her, a police sergeant said Thursday.
The arrest came after police in Salem, Oregon, learned that 41-year-old kidnapping suspect Blake Robert Johnston was in Martinez with a missing 14-year-old girl, according to Martinez police Sgt. Dave Mathers.
Martinez police went to Johnston’s home on Fountainhead Court on Wednesday and they found both the suspect and the missing teen.
Johnston was arrested on a Salem police warrant and was taken to county jail in Martinez, while the girl was reunited with her family.
Mathers said that the suspect and the girl knew one another prior to the kidnapping. The investigation into the case is ongoing.
