The Mountain View City Council on Thursday passed an ordinance to raise the city's minimum wage to $10.30 per hour.

The wage increase will go into effect next July.
The city council also voted 6-1 to set a goal of raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2018.
The California minimum wage is $9 per hour and is set to increase to $10 in 2016.
