Pedestrian dies in Stockton Tunnel crash

UPDATE 9/20 4:36 p.m.:The driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian near San Francisco’s Stockton Tunnel has been arrested for vehicular manslaughter, according to a police spokesman.

A female pedestrian was struck and killed in a vehicle collision in the vicinity of the Stockton Tunnel in downtown San Francisco this morning, according to police.

Shortly before 10 a.m., police received a report of a vehicle collision near the intersection of Stockton and Sacramento streets, San Francisco police Officer Albie Esparza said.

Emergency crews responded to the area and declared the pedestrian, described as an Asian female, deceased at the scene, according to Esparza.

The Stockton Tunnel and the impacted intersection were blocked following the collision, Esparza said.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation and the victim’s identity has not yet been released.
