A second person has died due to a fatal crash caused by a wrong-way driver on southbound Interstate Highway 280 near Palo Alto that occurred on Sept. 11.
San Jose resident Krisha Caraballos, 20, died Thursday morning, according to the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office. Caraballos was the second person to die as the result of a two-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate Highway 280 at Page Mill Road that occurred just before 1 a.m. on Sept. 11.
CHP and fire officials said one of the two vehicles involved in the collision was driving the wrong way on southbound Interstate Highway 280 at the time of the collision.
Palo Alto and Woodside firefighters used extraction equipment to free the two occupants from their respective drivers and transported them to the hospital, where one, 23-year-old Santa Clara resident Brian Devoto, died.
Caraballos remained hospitalized until her death Thursday morning.
