Firefighters responded to a home in the 7800 block of Outlook Avenue where people were injured from the collapse shortly after 7 p.m., Oakland fire Battalion Chief Adrian Sheppard said.
The deck fell about 15 feet from the home, he said.
Of the 15 people on the ground by the fallen deck, a dozen of them were injured, Sheppard said.
Nine people were transported to either Highland Hospital or Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, he said.
Three people remain in critical condition for broken bones and at least one had a broken pelvis, according to Sheppard.
City building engineers were called to assess the building and the cause of the collapse is under investigation, he said.
