Fight turns deadly outside Sonoma teen center

A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of killing a 25-year-old man during a fight outside a teen center in Sonoma Valley on Friday evening, sheriff’s deputies said.

At about 5:30 p.m. on Friday, sheriff’s deputies, along with medical personnel, were dispatched to a report of a fight outside the Valley of the Moon Teen Center at 17440 Sonoma Highway in Fetters Hot Springs-Agua Caliente.

Upon arrival, medical personnel performed life-saving measures on the male victim.

The victim, later identified as Sonoma Valley resident Mario Zamudio Perez, was transported to the Sonoma Valley Hospital, where he later died of his injuries, according to deputies.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Violent Crime Investigations and Crime Scene Investigations units responded to assist in the investigation.

Deputies located the suspect, identified as Joshua Javier Gonzalez, also from Sonoma Valley, and took him into custody.

Gonzalez was booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility for involuntary manslaughter. He is being held on $25,000 bail, according to sheriff’s deputies.

An autopsy to determine the manner and cause of Perez’ death is scheduled for next week, according to deputies.
