Cop car collision sends man to hospital
A 58-year-old man who collided with an Oakland police patrol car this afternoon near Lake Merritt is in critical condition, according to police.

A 58-year-old man who collided with an Oakland police patrol car this afternoon near Lake Merritt is in critical condition, according to police.
The collision happened around 1:30 p.m. when the patrol car traveling at slow speeds south on Third Avenue made a turn to East 12th Street, police said.
The pedestrian, an Oakland resident, was transported to a hospital for treatment, according to police.
The officer driving the car was the lone occupant and responding to a call for service, police said.
Police have not determined if the pedestrian was on the crosswalk at the time of the collision.
