Citizen bags suspect inside toolshed

A burglary suspect in Richmond was locked up twice early Monday morning when a homeowner allegedly saw him breaking into a tool shed and trapped him inside until police arrived to arrest him.

The resident in the 100 block of Ninth Street was awoken by a loud noise in his backyard around 3:40 a.m. and went outside to see a man had opened the shed and gone inside, Richmond police Sgt. Nicole Abetkov said.

Acting quickly, the homeowner closed the door of the shed and locked the suspect inside. Officers arrived at the home a short time later and apprehended the suspect, who was identified as 54-year-old Woodie Moore of Richmond, Abetkov said.

Moore, who is on probation for a prior theft, was arrested and taken to county jail in Martinez.
