Police have still not determined what caused a person to fall to his death from an overpass onto Interstate Highway 880 in Hayward early Wednesday morning.
The victim fell from the Industrial Boulevard overpass onto the southbound lanes of the highway at about 4:35 a.m. Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Hayward police said today that there have been conflicting accounts as to what caused the male victim to fall.
Investigators have not ruled out a homicide, but do not have enough information to conclude it was one either, police said. The victim, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead on the highway.
The CHP closed two lanes for about two hours during the death investigation. Hayward police are still seeking witnesses to the fall and are asking anyone with information to call Hayward police at (510) 293-7034.
