A woman was taken into custody as the suspected driver of a car that struck and critically injured a pedestrian Monday night near the Los Lagos Golf Course in San Jose, a police spokeswoman said.
The woman, who is not yet being identified, returned to the scene of the accident about two hours after it occurred at 9:42 p.m. Monday in the area of Senter Road and Oldham Way, police Sgt. Heather Randol said.
She was taken to the San Jose Police Department as officers continue to investigate the alleged hit-and-run collision, Randol said.
The pedestrian, a man, is hospitalized in critical condition, Randol said. Officers found him in the street and emergency responders took him to the hospital, Randol said.
The hit-and-run was the second to occur in that area of Senter Road within 24 hours. A 53-year-old man, Son Hoang Nguyen, was struck and killed at 9:51 p.m. Sunday at Senter Road and Balfour Drive.
The driver and the black sedan that hit Nguyen have not yet been found, police said.
