Glide staffer stabbed in church

A man was arrested Monday morning after stabbing a Glide Memorial Church staff member inside the building at Taylor and Ellis and fleeing toward Market Street, police and church officials said.

The staff member was attacked and stabbed in the shoulder at about 10 a.m. inside the church at 330 Ellis St., police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

Glide staff came to the staffer’s assistance with first aid until paramedics arrived, church officials said. The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, Shyy said.

The suspect fled but was quickly found on board a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus near the corner of Sixth and Market streets and was arrested, Shyy said. He was not yet identified this afternoon.
