The Marin County Sheriff’s office on Sunday will display bicycles that are believed to have been stolen in Marin County.
The public viewing of the bicycles is between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the north archway of the Marin County Civic Center at 3501 Civic Center Drive in San Rafael.
The 130 bikes and bike parts were seized during search warrants at three locations in the county on June 24. The sheriff’s office arrested Rebecca Hammett, 50, of Kentfield on suspicion of possessing bicycles believed to have been stolen by a theft ring in the county.
It was believed Hammett was buying and selling the stolen bicycles.
The Marin County District Attorney’s Office dismissed the charge against Hammett pending further investigation, Chief Deputy District Attorney Barry Borden said.
On Sunday the sheriff’s office hopes to return as many of the recovered bicycles as possible, Lt. Doug Pittman said.
Owners must provide proof of ownership, a valid driver’s license or identification card and either a police report detailing the type of bicycle and its serial number or a sales receipt with a description of the bike and its serial number.
No bicycles will be sold or given away Sunday, Pittman said.
