Carlos G. Ayala was also arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and resisting arrest, according to the Petaluma Police Department.
Officers responded at 9:21 p.m. to the 900 block of Bantam Way on a call about a noise complaint, police said. When they arrived at the scene, officers located Ayala and his girlfriend outside a black Volkswagen Bug parked on the street.
Police said Ayala quickly became uncooperative and tried to walk to the car. Officers detained Ayala and learned the car was reported stolen out of Santa Rosa earlier in the day.
Police said Ayala was intoxicated at the time of his arrest.
