The Coast Guard has rescued three people who became stranded on a jet ski near Pittsburg.
The three went to watch the Sunset on Saturday, and were missing for about 150 minutes, when one skier’s mother reportedly called the Coast Guard.
Coast Guard boats from stations in Rio Vista and Vallejo, as well as an MH-65 helicopter from San Francisco searched for the party. Just after midnight, they were located near Spoonbill Creek and recovered safely.
Coast Guard Capt. Mike Day said all three were wearing lifejackets, which was helpful in facilitating their safe rescue.
However, Day said, “This case highlights the need for mariners to have means of communication, both by voice and via visual distress signals, such as flares.”
