Gleneagles Golf Club at McLaren Park will remain open for at least one more month after the city’s Recreation and Park Department announced today it was extending its lease while negotiations with the course’s operators continue.
The lease had been set to expire on Thursday and the course’s operators, led by Tom Hsieh, even announced a going-away party last week, saying negotiations with the city had “reached an impasse over a small amount of costs.”
However, the Recreation and Park Department issued a statement today saying the two sides agreed to extend the existing lease until Aug. 31 “in order to allow more time to reach an agreement.”
The undulating nine-hole hillside course opened in 1962 and Hsieh and his group took over operations there in 2004.
More information on the course can be found online at www.gleneaglesgolfsf.com.
