A man was shot multiple times when he resisted an armed robber in Antioch on Saturday night, police said today.
The victim was walking in the 1400 block of Sycamore Drive around 10:40 p.m. when a male suspect approached and tried to rob him at gunpoint, according to police.
The man resisted and the suspect shot him several times before fleeing the scene.
Police said the victim, a 29-year-old Antioch man, was taken to a hospital to be treated for wounds that were not considered to be life-threatening.
Investigators are attempting to identify the suspect and have not made any arrests in connection with the shooting.
The incident is the latest in a series of violent crimes on Sycamore Drive this year. About 24 hours earlier, a victim was shot and killed in the 2300 block of Sycamore Drive, according to police.
Several other violent incidents reported on the street in recent months include separate shootings in May that left two young men seriously injured and an incident on June 9 in which an Antioch police officer shot a fleeing suspect who was allegedly armed with a gun.
