A man believed to be responsible for a recent series of arsons in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood was arrested Wednesday evening, police said today.
Anthony Bejarano, 47, of San Francisco, was arrested in the 200 block of Harrison Street in the city’s South Beach neighborhood, police said. Bejarano is being held on suspicion of six counts of arson, including arson of an inhabited structure, according to police.
Police allege Bejarano is responsible for four arsons that occurred in the South of Market area in the past month. Many of those fires were set at construction sites, occupied buildings and garbage receptacles, police said.
Bejarano was arrested based on tips that came in after police released photos and a video of the suspected arsonist earlier this week.
