An 8-year-old girl who was abducted by her father after he allegedly stabbed her mother in Sunnyvale Thursday night was found safe, police said.
At 9:49 p.m., the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety responded to a report of a stabbing in the 500 block of North Britton Avenue, police said.
Upon arrival, police discovered a 33-year-old woman with stab wounds and learned that her 8-year-old daughter had been abducted, police said.
Police issued an Amber Alert and began searching for the girl and her father, Jose Luis Valencia, 44.
The stabbing victim, who was the suspect’s estranged girlfriend, was transported to the hospital, police said.
Police quickly obtained information about the girl’s location and, in communication with the suspect’s family, arranged to have her brought to police headquarters about three hours after the abduction, police said.
The girl was unharmed and was later reunited with her mother, who has since been released from the hospital, police said.
Detectives are searching for Valencia, who is described as a Hispanic man, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Police warn Valencia is considered armed and dangerous.
Police urge anyone with information about Valencia to call the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety at (408) 730-7101.
