A 9-year-old New Mexico girl has been found safe this morning in Samuel P. Taylor State Park in Marin County nearly a day after her parents reported her missing, a sheriff’s office unit leader said.
Ida Rothchild was found following a search of the heavily forested state park by dozens of law enforcement officers and volunteers that resumed this morning, Marin Sheriff’s search and rescue unit leader Michael St. John said.
“They have located her,” said St. John, who declined further comment.
On Friday, Ida’s father realized he had not seen her since 12:15 p.m. while their family was in the state park and searched for her for around an hour to a hour and a half with his wife before calling authorities for help, deputies said.
