Taco Bell robbery suspects make run for the door

San Mateo police are searching for three male suspects who robbed a Taco Bell at gunpoint Monday night.

According to San Mateo police spokesman Sgt. Dave Norris, the suspects held customers and Taco Bell employees at bay while they robbed them of personal property and took cash from the restaurant, located at 1975 S. El Camino Real in San Mateo.

Officers responded to the call at about 10:40 p.m. The suspects fled just seconds before police arrived, Norris said. The three suspects were all similarly clothed, wearing hooded sweatshirts (two black, one gray), blue jeans, masks and gloves. At least one suspect is armed with a handgun, Norris said.

The suspects were last seen fleeing on foot, but a vehicle was heard speeding in the area moments later.

Norris said one of the Taco Bell employees suffered a minor injury, but no one else was hurt. Police ask anyone with information on this crime to call Detective Reyna at (650) 522-7662, or the San Mateo Police Department Secret Witness Hotline at (650) 262-3473. An anonymous text may be sent to police at (650) 262-3473.
