San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera filed charges Wednesday with the Public Employees Relations Board, accusing Transport Workers Local 250-A of unfair labor practices in connection with this week’s sweeping Muni sick-out.
Herrera also wrote in the complaint that the Muni driver sick-out illegal under both and state law in the existing labor contract with workers.
It could take up to year for the board to issue a ruling, but Herrera hopes that filing the complaint will compel drivers to end the sick-out.
Herrera said:
“This is an unfortunate attempt by the union to get around a law and contract provisions they don’t like.”
