A 50-year-old man was placed under citizen's arrest for allegedly tagging a Petaluma overpass.
A man with a history of run-ins with police was placed under citizen’s arrest this morning for allegedly tagging a freeway overpass with a marking pen.
Petaluma police said they now have Santa Rosa resident Godfrey Worley, 50, in custody after a citizen spotted the suspect vandalizing a U.S. Highway 101 overpass by tagging it with graffiti at about 10 a.m. Saturday.
Officers retrieved the marker after Worley reportedly threw the pen onto the freeway below. The marking pen has been seized as evidence.
The citizen who placed the call to police returned to the scene and placed Worley under a citizen’s arrest.
Police said they have had had numerous contacts with Worley and have taken him to Sonoma County Jail where he remains in custody.
