Shooting reports lock down SF General

UPDATE 2:05 p.m. A SF General Hospital spokeswoman told KCBS-AM no evidence of a shooting could be located and the early reports could not be confirmed.

Police are searching the area around San Francisco General Hospital after reports of shots fired came in about 1:20 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

A room-to-room search by police and sheriff cleared Building 1 after shots were reported fired, according to a series of UCSF emergency alerts.

Hospital employees and others at SF General were asked to lock all access doors and stay out of sight, or escape if it was safe to do so.

A man believed to be a suspect was last seen leaving the hospital and running across 22nd Street.
