OAKLAND — Terrelle Pryor’s wish has been granted. Well, almost.
The Oakland Raiders confirmed Monday that the quarterback has been traded to Seattle for a seventh round draft selection. Pryor had requested a release early in the offseason.
The Raiders will now have seven picks in the upcoming NFL draft.
Pryor started nine games in 2013, winning three. In his second to last home start, Pryor ran for a 93-yard touchdown, which set an NFL record for longest touchdown run by a quarterback.
He was sidelined by nagging injuries linked to his out-of-the-pocket style of play. Pryor lost his starting job to rookie Matt McGloin who led the Raiders to their fourth and final win of 2013.
With prospects of being the Raiders’ lead signal caller all but gone, Pryor requested to be cut. Instead, he will have the chance to compete for the backup spot behind Russell Wilson and the Super Bowl champion Seahawks.
