Mayfield upset by Dulorme in Atlantic City

Former rising prospect Thomas Dulorme may have regained some credibility Saturday night as he defeated San Francisco’s own Karim “Hard Hitta” Mayfield via unanimous decision in a 10-round junior welterweight bout from Atlantic City, N.J.

Judge Waleska Roldan scored the bout 98-92, while judge Ron McNair scored it 97-94 and Joseph Pasquale had it 96-93 all in favor of Dulorme.

SFBay had Dulorme winning 97-93.

Dulorme (21-1, 14 KOs) displayed his slick boxing craft throughout the fight, successfully connecting with his left jab and tagging Mayfield with crisp left hooks.

Mayfield (18-1-1, 11 KOs) began opening up during the third round and successfully landed his right cross throughout the second half of the fight. He also had success landing shots while Dulorme was pinned against the ropes.

Despite making the second half of the fight rougher, Mayfield was unable to catch Dulorme with the trademark shot that could have ultimately turned the bout in his favor.

Dulorme has now won five consecutive fights since his lone professional loss, a crushing seventh-round technical knockout served up by rugged Argentine Luis Carlos Abregu in October 2012.
