Bulls granted extension to find new owners

Local hockey fans are going to have to keep playing the waiting game as the fight to keep the San Francisco Bulls at the Cow Palace continues.

A statement released Thursday morning by San Francisco Bulls CEO Angela Batinovich explains that the ECHL has given the Bulls extended time to negotiate with a potential new ownership group in an effort to keep the club afloat.

As SFBay first reported Monday: As of now, no games have been cancelled.

The news Monday that the Bulls could be a week away from a venue change — or even ceasing to exist — sent shockwaves through the Bay Area fan base, particularly since we have only reached the halfway point of the ECHL season.

Some fans have taken to Twitter asking for help getting the team more support. One fan went so far as to petition Mayor Ed Lee to keep the Bulls playing in The City.

SFBay will keep you posted as more information on the future of the San Francisco Bulls unfolds.

Changes to the Bulls’ roster continued even while meetings in Philadelphia took place, with forward Chris Crane being recalled to the Worcester Sharks on Wednesday.

Crane had 16 points in (7 goals, 9 assists) and 37 penalty minutes in 20 games with San Francisco this season.
