The San Francisco Bulls were bottled up in the opener of their three-game weekend series with the Alaska Aces, falling 3-2 Thursday night at the Cow Palace.
Dean Ouellet picked up his seventh goal in the first period, and defenseman Steven Tarasuk cut into the Aces’ lead in the third period with his third goal of the season.
Evan Trupp led Alaska with two assists, helping on goals from Aces defenseman James Martin in the first period and Mathew Sisca in the third. Aces blueliner Dustin Molle also picked up his third goal of the season.
Momentum seemed to want to shift toward the Bulls in the third period. And it just may have, had a trio of penalties by Bulls captain Scott Langdon not forced so much time on the penalty kill (perfect on four Alaska power plays).
Tyler Beskorowany (11-10-2) had 33 saves including 11 to hold the Aces scoreless in the third period. Aces goalie Olivier Roy picked up his ninth win and lowered his goals against average to 2.11, second-lowest in the Western Conference.
The Bulls continue their homestand against Alaska Friday night at the Cow Palace. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
