Tamale Lady picks store site near 16th & Mission

The illicitly delicious late-night tamales served via pushcart by Virginia Ramos — the Mission’s famous Tamale Lady — are one step closer to a brick-and-mortar home.

And, Mission Local reports, it could include beer.

Nate Albee, legislative aide to Supervisor David Campos, tells Mission Local he’s worked with Ramos for six months to find a storefront near 16th and Mission.

News of the location wasn’t supposed to leak until a lease is signed in January. But Albee said Campos spilled the frijoles to Mission Local via text message a bit sooner than planned:

“He was not supposed to tell anyone that … Oh, David.”
