What seemed like a battle for the last roster position between Seth Curry and Dewayne Dedmon turned out to be pure speculation.
The Warriors announced Friday that both Curry and Dedmon — along with forward Joe Alexander — have been cut as the team trimmed their roster to 14 players.
The three are expected to join the Santa Cruz Warriors, Golden State’s D-League affiliate, assuming offers don’t start rolling in from other teams.
Curry, 23, signed as an undrafted free agent out of Duke on Aug. 22 and appeared in six preseason games averaging 2.2 points in 7.2 minutes.
Dedmon, 24, signed as a free agent Sept. 23 and appeared in five preseason contests averaging 3.4 points and 4 rebounds in 10.3 minutes.
Alexander, 26, signed as a free agent Sept. 27 and did not appear in any games due to a left leg tibial stress reaction.
Golden State’s decision to keep the players close while they develop doesn’t come as a shock. Warriors General Manager Bob Myers is a huge proponent of the D-League and has stressed the importance of having the Santa Cruz team in such close proximity.
