Shirtless ‘Jesus’ arrested after nine-hour standoff

Three days after his first appearance, a semi-naked man known as the “Drumm Street Jesus” resurrected in the Embarcadero on Monday to allegedly cast stones at officers.

Beginning around 3 p.m., the 25-year-old shirtless man perched himself on the edge of a promenade between the Hyatt Regency San Francisco and 4 Embarcadero Center — and stayed there for nine hours.

During this time, the unidentified man reportedly threatened to jump the ledge, allegedly threw stones at police and smashed a couple windows above the Ann Taylor LOFT clothing store.

And for extra drama, he was brandishing a knife, of course.

The standoff ended shortly after midnight when the man was taken into custody and brought to a hospital.

Once released by hospital staff, SF Police Officer Gordon Shyy said the Bay Area resident will face a slew of felony and misdemeanor charges, included assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism, trespassing and delaying a peace officer.

Though the man’s name has not been released, witnesses have taken to calling him “Drumm Street Jesus” — a nickname surely inspired by his shaggy brown locks, fondness of belting out “Amazing Grace” and the fact he pulled nearly the same stunt a few days ago on Drumm Street.

The man first made headlines Friday morning when he climbed atop a light pole around 10 a.m. and stripped down to his birthday suit.

During the incident, it took approximately 17 police officers and one SWAT team four hours to remove the naked man from the pole.

According to Officer Shyy, the gentleman was taken to General Hospital’s psych ward, where he was later released with no charges.
