Sharks trim down training camp roster

Monday night, the San Jose Sharks beat the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 in their first 2013 exhibition game. Not 24-hours later, the team trimmed down its training camp roster.

Sharks Executive VP and General Manager Doug Wilson announced Tuesday  the club has reassigned 11 players to the Worcester Sharks training camp.

The following players will report to the AHL camp in Massachusetts: Defensemen Konrad Abeltshauer, Kyle Bigos and Dylan DeMelo; forwards Jimmy Bonneau, Riley Brace, Chris Crane, James Livingston, Travis Oleksuk, Sebastian Stalberg and Marek Viedensky; goaltender JP Anderson.

The San Jose squad outshot the Canucks’ lineup 42-16 Monday night despite the absence of Brent Burns, Patrick Marleau, Dan Boyle, Logan Couture and Joe Thornton.

The Sharks had the day off on Tuesday, but will resume training camp Wednesday morning. Preseason play continues Friday night at SAP Pavilion with the Sharks hosting the Anaheim Ducks. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:30 p.m.
