Bulls bring back a pair from Germany

Tuesday was a big day for the ongoing development of the San Francisco Bulls 2013-2014 roster.

The team announced the signing of forward Ryan McDonough and defenseman Steven Tarasuk to two-way AHL/ECHL deals with the Bulls and the Worcester Sharks.

These are the first contract signings since the Bulls announced last week that they had renewed their affiliation with the San Jose Sharks, to which Worcester also serves as an affiliate.

The Bulls also picked up defenseman Collin Bowman in a trade from the Colorado Eagles. Trade compensation for Bowman was not disclosed.

Bowman is the second player to be added to the Bulls 2013-2014 that had previously been on an opposing ECHL team last season; goaltender Tyler Beskorowany, acquired by the Bulls earlier this summer, previously played for the Idaho Steelheads.

The 22-year-old Colorado native enters his second year of professional hockey after recording 34 points (11 goals, 23 assists) and 102 PIM during his rookie tenure with the Eagles.

Before going pro, Bowman played five seasons split with the Kelowna Rockets, Calgary Hitmen and Moose Jaw Warriors. Bowman served as Moose Jaw’s captain during his 2010-2011 campaign. He registered 148 points (35 goals, 113 assists) in 346 games in the WHL.

Ontario native McDonough, entering his sixth season as a professional, will be making his U.S. pro debut. Last season he tallied 77 points (28 goals, 59 assists) in 87 games with the Hannover Indians in Germany.

McDonough has also played in Austria and Italy since turning pro, in addition to logging 258 games with the Saginaw Spirits of the OHL where he registered 284 points (133 goals, 151 assists).

Tarasuk, who also spent last season in Germany playing for the Lausitzer Foxes, is no stranger to the ECHL. The 23-year-old played 135 games divided between the Kalamazoo Wings, Idaho Steelheads and Ontario Reign. During that tenure he recorded 63 points (12 goals, 51 assists)

All three players are expected to participate in the AHL Sharks training camp in Worcester in late September.
