Images released of ‘Burglary at Tiffany’s’ suspects

Walnut Creek police are hoping surveillance photos they’ve released of six men who used a stolen pickup truck to smash into and rob a Tiffany’s jewelry store will help them find the robbers.

Police on Monday released the images captured on a security surveillance camera that show the six gathering in a parking lot near downtown Walnut Creek around 5 a.m. on the morning of August 15.

One image shows the men removing the license plates from a white Chevy Trailblazer they used after the heist to make good their getaway.

Minutes after being caught on tape, police say the robbers drove the stolen pickup through the front windows of a Tiffany & Co. on Main Street, smashed open a display case and made off with the jewelry inside.

In making their getaway, the six robbers left the stolen truck inside the store and drove off in the Trailblazer. Police later determined the pickup truck used to smash into the store had been stolen from the Sacramento-area city of Citrus Heights.

The dollar amount of jewelry stolen has not been released, but police described it as a “small” amount.  Police later determined the pickup truck had been stolen from the Sacramento-area city of Citrus Heights.

Besides the white Trailblazer — believed to be a 2004 or 2005 — police are also looking for a “newer looking” black Cadillac sedan and a dark mid 2000’s Chevy Tahoe, or similar vehicle.  Both vehicles were believed to be in the area just before the robbery.
