Two of three free agent wide receivers who worked out for the 49ers on Friday were signed by the team in the wake of several injuries at the position, according to multiple reports.
Austin Collie and Lavelle Hawkins will be in uniform this evening when practice begins at 5 p.m., while Laurent Robinson has left Santa Clara without a contract.
Concussions limited Collie (6-0, 204) to one game with the Colts in 2012. But when healthy, he was the premier slot receiver for Peyton Manning, hauling in almost everything thrown his way since entering the league in 2009.
He was originally brought in for a tryout during June OTAs and has a legit shot at making the 53-man roster.
Hawkins (5-11, 195) is a five-year veteran who came out of CCSF and Cal. He has spent his entire career with the Titans as a special teamer, part-time kick returner and reserve wideout; he is primarily a depth add.
There is no official injury list made available during training camp, but with the hamstring trio of Kyle Williams, A.J. Jenkins, and Kassim Osgood not practicing in recent days, Collie and Hawkins are welcomed additions especially with the August 8 preseason game against the Broncos less than a week away.
The 49ers did not announce any corresponding moves, but will have to clear two roster spots to make room for both players.
