San Francisco police have arrested the man they say was caught on tape kicking a woman in the head after she had just been robbed.
A police spokesman says 23-year-old Christopher Porter-Bailey is being held on suspicion of robbery, aggravated assault and battery likely to cause serious injury after San Francisco and Oakland police officers arrested him in Oakland on Friday.
Investigators say Porter-Bailey is the man who kicked a 28-year-old San Francisco woman in the head after she had just been robbed of her purse and cell phone and knocked to the ground by a group of men and women.
The attack took place as the woman walked on Market St. around 2 a.m. on June 30 after a Gay Pride event.
Surveillance video from a nearby store captured a haunting image of the woman struggling to get up from the sidewalk after being robbed, then kicked violently in the head by one of the muggers, who then jogged away.
Police say the force of the kick caused the woman to lose consciousness.
The tape of the attack went viral after police released it in the hopes of identifying the suspect.
Investigators are still looking for other suspects in the attack, and trying to determine if Porter-Bailey and the people he was with robbed and attacked others on Market St. between Castro and the Civic Center around the same time.
